Tuck that Tuxedo!

I saw this picture and this Haute Hippie dress swept me off my feet and trust me, I don’t say that very often (and I typically didn’t even love haute hippie brand that much). Haute hippie tuxedo dress was immediately part of my lust-list. Find the dress here and native fox’s blog here.

Polished, structures, modern, minimalist and chic. This dress is all that and MORE!

Love how she styled it here (and of course the fact that she used Alexander Wang shoes and Celine bag – 2 of my most favorite brands). Another great look from blogger from Song of Style.

Others in the same league – also by my favorite designers – Victoria Beckham and 3.1 Phillip Lim.

So Haute Hippie dress and those by Victoria Beckham, 3.1 Phillip Lim which are at a $700 price tag which is rather steep. I researched into a couple of more affordable options here is what I found.

Rihanna for River Island here with or without sleeves.

I am back and a new crush and lust list!

Oh my, that was a long hiatus. I started a new job. Left Microsoft to join a gaming company and it has been a fun ride so far! Spent close to 2 months in San Francisco living out of a hotel and soooo good to be back home, and writing!

Anyways, time to talk about my new online-shopping crush! Few months ago, I discovered Mikkat Market on Refinery29 and back then, I found the collection too small for my liking. Recently, I checked on them again and man, I am in love. Katherine personally hand-picks the clothes (and models?) and it shows. No commercial crap but very selected beautiful designs that are both classic, chic and youthful!

Here is my lust-list!

Cutest faux leather shorts in the most beautiful color – http://www.mikkatmarket.com/product/high-waist-faux-leather-shorts-burgundy

How I wish this was available in my size? Classy navy mixed with black leather – I love mixed media! http://www.mikkatmarket.com/product/navy-high-waist-ribbon-skirt

Silk, stripes and style – http://www.mikkatmarket.com/product/silk-asymmetric-stripe-top

Summery and lady-like top – perfect for showing those shoulders! http://www.mikkatmarket.com/product/printed-cut-out-shoulder-blouse

And maxi dress to complete the summer look – http://www.mikkatmarket.com/product/tie-dye-uneven-maxi-dress

Celebrity style crush – Victoria Beckham

I seldom like celebrities-turned-designers but Victoria Beckham just might be an exception. I love that she has a specific and distinctive perspective and it looks fabulous on her. Things that I started especially appreciating because of her:

Neutral colors like heather grey

Pencil skirts, mid-length

Men inspired, shirt dresses (and perfect with nude pumps)

Fuller skirts, styled in not-so-girlie fashion, LOVE!

Structured clothing, especially exaggerated shoulders!

Special mention for coated demin and suede/satin collars – always loved it and she is great at styling it!

Now only if she will go easy on her tan!

Moi Back

It’s been a while since I blogged. Wish I could say I was busy with work, or traveling or living under a rock with no internet connection. But none of this is really true. I was just being lazy. While on my mini-break, I acquired a few of my latest heart-throb pieces.

Got myself a beautiful Helmut Lang dress here. Oh how I like the ultimate cool yet feminine style. ❤ ❤ ❤

And what better shoe to go with a cool yet edgy look –

I cannot wait to post a picture of this outfit on me soon!

Latest girl crush!

Found myself style-stalking Olivia Palermo. She has gotta be my latest style crush. She has this classy yet modern and chic style. Youthful and not overly done.

Recording some styles that I MUST replicate! And this also brings me to some fashion-must haves for fall and winter!

A fur vest – for layering.

My advice is to always opt for a neutral color so it stays a classic.

Structured jackets!

They continue to be in-style! Layering and glaring.

Colored leggings

For that extra oomph when pairs with winter neutrals

Leggings, leggings and more leggings!

To continue making shorts practical in winter.

Peplum Obsessed

I went on a massive peplum shopping trip and bought 3 peplum tops on the same day! Too much! Now I am praying that peplum stays trendy for a long long time. But then – it gives such a classy and polished look. It is also very flattering on all figures and created a perfect hourglass shape. So well, I don’t feel as bad.

Now that I have so many peplum tops, I need to figure out various ways to wear it out. Here are 3 that created on polyvore.

These is a fall/summer look and features my latest bag-crush. The bag is here – http://www.celine.com/en/collection/fall/leather-goods/trapeze/9 and no longer available anywhere. But I will keep looking!!!

The second look is causal work appropriate (I do work in a tech firm so denim is totally fine for me). Add a neon pump and Chanel and it’s perfect for happy hour after work too! To add the man-wear trend, feel free to exchange the jeans for a boyfriend jeans.

This is a night-out-in-the-town look. Perfect with my latest love aka tie-dye jeans. And featuring my shoe-crush – the French bootie. So in love. Add neck pieces for a fun look.

Hope you liked these all! If there is another great peplum idea, send/ tweet it my way. I will add it to this list. Thanks for reading.

Lust List

Time for another lust list!!! I put together one together on Polyvore. How very easy!

#1 is a Tuxedo Jacket. Embracing the men-wear and also a take-2 on the structured jacket style. Perfect for a grungy or a classy or a chic look!  The picture is a Balmain but a wayyyy cheaper one is available at Zara for $90.

#2 is a metal belt. I have definitely blogged some pictures of looks with this belt but never really spoke about the belt itself. A golden plate belt is perfect for balancing out color blocking outfits. Combine it with any of the looks here. Seriously cheap ones are available at Ebay.

#3 I am pretty positive that this Shoemint neon pump is going to be my next purchase. Classy and only $80. Plus you can get a 50% discount by using the code “rachel50”.

#4 I recently snagged a similar jeans from Nordstrom. And it was cheap – $45!!! And its gorgeous. Also combined with a loose luxurious red tee and boots.

#5 To convert any outfit from day to night, the simple trick is to add a lot of metal jewelry, especially if you like the grungy look like I do!

That’s all the lusting for now. Bonus coming = lusting materializing.
